General information
Grifulvin is an antifungal antibiotic that fights infections caused by fungus. It is used to treat infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, and fungal infections of the scalp, fingernails, or toenails.
Directions
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use it with a glass of water with or without meal at the same time daily. Keep using this medicine as directed, even if you feel well.
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have liver illness, porphyria, allergy, lupus erythematosus,or if you are pregnant. Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds.
Contraindications
Avoid using the drug if you have liver illness, lupus erythematosus, allergy to griseofulvin or penicillin. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for additional information.
Possible side effect
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction, fever, vomiting, flu symptoms, breathing problems, white patches, confusion, nausea, tingling, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice, severe skin reaction, stomach pain, flushing and insomnia.
Drug interactions
The drugs for sleep control, birth control tablets, warfarin and female hormones can cooperate with Grifulvin. Consult your doctor for additional information.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Call emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
