General information
Amoxil is a penicillin antibiotic. It has antibacterial mechanism of action and can be applied for such infections as H. influenzae, N. gonorrhoea, E. coli, Pneumococci, Streptococci, and Staphylococci. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu).
Directions
It is recommended to take the medicine as it was prescribed by your doctor. Take it with a big glass of water. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Precautions
Before starting your treatment with Amoxil please inform your doctor if you have asthma, pregnancy or breastfeeding. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Do not stop to use the medicine of you feel better.
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to Amoxil can't use it.
Possible side effect
Side effects can include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, hives, swelling, rash, dizziness, heartburn, insomnia, itching, confusion, easy bruising, yellowing eyes or skin. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. Amoxicillin can commonly cause a mild rash that is usually not serious. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Drug interaction
Amoxil can interact with birth control pills, digoxin, metotrexat, aspirin, etc.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time of the next intake just skip it and go back to your schedule.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are be severe vomiting, nausea, persistent diarrhea, disorders of water and electrolytes balance, seizures.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 59 and 86F (15-30C) away from light and moisture.
